What you will learn in this course:

How Mozart wrote in three different "forms" of opera (Italian Opera Seria, Italian Opera Buffa and German Singspiel).

How his early (teenager) operas for Milan laid the foundations for his understanding of the Opera Seria form.

How his 1781 commission for the Elector of Bavaria in Munich (IDOMENEO) changed the conventions of Opera Seria.

How his 1791 commission for the new Austrian Emperor's Prague coronation (LA CLEMENZA DI TITO) was the last great example of this form of opera.
